An agreement for an accreditation system which recognises only authorised taxi operators at the airport has taken effect, and Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) Inc. management is confident it will significantly reduce discrepancies and improve overall customer satisfaction at Barbados’ main port of entry.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was officially signed by GAIA Inc. CEO Hadley Bourne and representatives of the recognised taxi associations: the United Taxi Owners Association, the Atlantic Taxi Association, Grantley Select Tours, Barbados Transport Co-Op Society, Central Taxi Owners Association, Hilltop Taxi Co-Op Society Limited, Johnson Tours B’dos Limited, Quintour’s Taxi Inc., Serenity Taxi Association, and Sunset Crest Transport Co-Op Society.

The accreditation system under the agreement, which took effect on Wednesday, is designed to safeguard passengers by providing dependable, high-quality service from officially recognised drivers and vehicles, the GAIA Inc. said in a statement issued on Thursday.

The agreement also includes detailed operational guidelines aimed at minimising wait times and mechanisms to ensure fair passenger distribution. Selain itu, it outlines communication protocols and service level expectations to enhance the overall travel experience at GAIA.

“Formalising this MOU with the various taxi associations underscores our commitment to improving service quality and operational efficiency at our airport,” said Bourne.

“This is part of our broader strategy to ensure that all passengers who travel through Grantley Adams International Airport receive the best possible service.”

The airport management added that GAIA Inc. and its taxi service partners are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of hospitality and professionalism, ensuring that Barbados continues to be a welcoming and efficiently served destination. (PR/BT)
